Students protest against administration’s handling of cases of sexual assault

In the spring, mass communication student Maggie Haddock posted a tweet on an anonymous Twitter account stating she would expose a man in the Asheville community for every like the tweet received. After letting it stand idle for weeks, Haddock revisited the tweet on June 10, posting a full-fledged thread containing the names, images and descriptions regarding the sexual misconduct of the accused, including several members of the campus community.

City of Asheville tries to shut down syringe exchange

Following a zoning violation threatening to shut down a legal syringe exchange in West Asheville, Firestorm Books and Coffee and the Steady Collective, which runs a syringe exchange in Firestorm’s community room, appeal the violation claiming it discriminates against drug users and homeless people in West Asheville.

Chris Bobbitt officially sworn in as commuter senator

Despite previously not being allowed to serve in the Student Government Association since the beginning of the 2018-2019 school year, Chris Bobbitt is now officially able to actively fill the position of commuter senator. Bobbitt was sworn in on Wednesday’s SGA meeting alongside the newly elected freshmen senators.
