A wizard with a six-foot-tall hat dancing in your local mall might be a bizarre sight to see, but to Ruti Buser, the one behind the ever-growing TikTok and Instagram accounts ‘Planet Ruti,’ that’s just another day.
Ruti Buser, a 24-year-old, was born in Asheville and attended UNC Charlotte before dropping out to pursue a career in music. Since then, he’s become both amusician and a content creator. He started his own studio, and eventually started creating content to promote the artists for that studio.
Eventually, his content creation ventures went towards promoting his music, and what better way to do so than as a wizard? The costume, including a roughly six-foot-tall triangular hat, which Ruti made himself, allowed him to push a message of judgment-free fun to his community.
“So, my father’s a wizard, and there’s one night, it was, like, super late, and I ordered a shitty little wizard hat from Amazon, and as soon as I put it on, I was like, Oh, yeah. We can do something with this. And that kind of started it off,” Buser said.
Ruti frequents malls, restaurants, wherever there’s risk. He doesn’t always get to film, but when he does, his videos are always memorable for their silliness.
“There’s tons of different locations, so for me to get caught up or too attached to a specific one if someone isn’t wanting me to be there, that’s just limiting myself,” Buser said.
Many of his reels and TikToks have spiked into the millions when it comes to views and likes. According to Buser, around six months ago was when he started to notice explosive growth on his dance videos.
“I think I’m really at the beginning stage of this journey,” Buser said. “Reach and impact is the goal, rather than fame. I think fame comes from that, but I just want to impact as many people as I possibly can until I don’t have any time left here.”
There’s something deeper than just dressing up and dancing in public, according to Buser, he wants to send a message to his fans and his community to feel free in their self-expression. The community in his comments of his fans has taken the name ‘niche community.’
“The niche community is kind of just, like, the people that feel that I’ve created a safe space for them to express themselves without being judged, and I love that,” Buser said, “They’re kind of a collective of my fans that like to talk about whatever throughout their day, and I’m really blessed that they’re there and doing that, and they’ve been going hard for a long time.”
Buser has big goals, aiming one day to move to bigger horizons and he eventually dreams to tour with his music, which he dubs “Wizard music.” According to Buser, there are a lot of different overlapping levels of inspiration that contribute to the music. His music is a labor of love to the artists he respects, and he takes inspiration from artists like Kesha and Ken Carson.
“It’s kind of like pop, techno pop, EDM, dancing kind of stuff, but it kind of is existing within its own life,” Buser said.

According to Ruti, there are 10 points that he lives by throughout his life and career. Those 10 points go as follows:
- Everything loves you, even when it can’t show it, people reject, ignore, misunderstand, or leave, not because love isn’t present, but because fear blocks its expression.
- You’re not here to be normal. Normal is unconscious repetition. Humans are meant to express, not conform, and suppressing uniqueness is a root of suffering.
- Art is a responsibility, not a hobby. Creation is not optional. Music, dance, emotion, player, tools for healing, not luxuries. If you can create and choose not to, you’re withholding medicine from the world.
- Joy is a rebellion, and a culture addicted to fear, boredom, and outrage. Joy is radical, or highness is disruptive.
- Attention is sacred. Don’t waste it. So where attention goes, your life kind of life grows. What you consume kind of dictates who you are. So what you feed gets stronger, consume carefully, and create intentionally.
- Everyone is doing the best that they can with their nervous system. People don’t act from logic; they act from regulation or dysregulation. Hurt people aren’t evil. They’re just overloaded.
- The body knows before the mind. Dance, movement, rhythm, sensation, truth enter through thought, through feeling before thought. If it feels aligned, the explanation will come later.
- Love multiplies when shared. Love hoarded decays, love giving grows.
- Fame is not the goal reached.
- You’re allowed to become exactly who you can imagine.
And one more, as a bonus– if even one person feels less alone because you existed, your life was a success.
“I want more people to hear the music, feel it, understand the message behind it, and feel more love because of it,” said Buser. “My goal on Earth is to help people love themselves more. That’s why I exist. The best way that I can do that is by creating art.”
